"Sometimes the road less traveled is less traveled for a reason."

- Jerry Seinfeld

I started my degree almost a decade later than most people. I returned to school in 2016 to pursue a Bachelor of Design (Honours) degree from the York University/Sheridan College joint program in Design. I loved every moment of it, and graduated in September 2019, armed and ready to take on the digital world.

I never imagined that I would end up as a designer. I initially went to school to study classical music performance as a Double Bass major at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music. As fate would have it, I secured an internship with Universal Music Canada during my second year in the program and was offered a role with the company shortly after. How could I say 'no' to something I was enjoying so much?! During the years I spent working in the music industry my role slowly started to evolve into one where I was taking on the creation of presentations for client pitch meetings, and also starting to get my feet wet in digital product launches for brand and artist campaigns I managed. I began to see how an impecable fan experience translates into an outstanding user experience, and from there I knew I wanted to work in the digital product field moving forward. It felt right. The combination of my background in marketing and understanding value-driven business models for successful campaign and product launches, a passion for the user experience, and a budding interest for design, it was a direction that made sense. I decided to take the leap and return to school wher I could gain the technical skills needed to succeed in this field.

Since returning to school I have received recognition for my work in ux design and web interface design. I have also gained experience as a UI/UX Product Designer through client projects and in my work with the Four Seasons Hotel & Resort.

I find great satisfaction in creating meaningful experiences that unite design and technology to bring relief, unity, and beauty into people's lives. I also have a passion for learning and believe in putting human needs before user needs. With collaboration, I believe that the design and the user can share thoughts and ideas to come up with strategies to help improve the way we use products today.

When not behind my screen you'll most likely find me traveling, enjoying a good video game, or cooking up something from this week's HelloFresh kit.
